REQUIEM IN BLACK
Official Band Website
Live Show Reviews: "We had "post-punk;" now Requiem in Black might be a forerunner of "post-synthpop," where tense electronic music and anthemic themes are matched with melodic, true vocals. "Revolution Nation" is a promising movement towards something different, with tight interplay between Jessie's voice and Aeren's infectious dance-industrial beats. The title track is particularly strong and backed by an interesting concept; "Life" and "Victory" are more pensive, with slower-flowing undercurrents; Assemblage 23's Tom Shear remixes "Captive." "A lot of the more recent goth and dark electronic music is completely lacking in anything human, but rather than plunge into the EBM morass, Requiem in Black draws on more vital, older influences, girded by vocals that are refreshingly not faux-operatic, but warm and sultry, like those of Alison Moyet."
One of Denver’s great music talents, Requiem in Black combine sound with artistry in their music and performances. A two person band: Aeren doing the Beats, Keyboards, Programming, Mixing, Promotions, and Booking; with Jessie as the sultry vocals, Lyrics, Keyboards, Engineering, Mastering, Merchandising. Starting in 2006, Requiem in Black can be described as Goth and dark electronic music, with some EBM; as they offer vital older influences of the 80’s/90’s and beyond such as Gary Numan, VNV, APOP, Wolfsheim, Covenant, Wumpscut, Cruxshadows, Seabound, Angels & Agony, and others that one reviewer described as “1984 soundtrack-era Eurythmics inspired”. As of this writing, they have 2 cds out. They are named after the term that defines “funeral songs”. Their performance this even of 22 January 2009 at the Cervantes theater was a masterpiece in of itself. Great job! Rating : 4 stars out of 5.

On the evening of January 22nd of 2009 came, rocked, and enamoured a perfect-sized audience from 8 pm until midnight. Great performances in a great concert hall. Overall, the combined bands were a not-to-miss event.

"Revolution Nation" CD Reviews:
"This new US act presents synthpop / darkwave with an unlying mood, and semi-gothic female vocal style. It's danceable, yet relaxed at the same time."
